Though my critics – by the way, I found I have a loyal opposition – seem to feel I spend an inordinate amount of time dealing with the morality of abortion it appears that this matter remains the interest of our nation’s pollsters. A July 2010 Angus Reid opinion poll confirms that Canadians are woefully unaware of the country’s stance on abortion.
Listen to their findings, drawn from a sample of over 1,000 Canadian adults. Only 21% of respondents knew that Canada had no restrictions on abortion whatsoever. Most every nation in the world carries restrictions. Canada stands alone as one of the only countries who do not protect the right of the unborn to live.
This is not what I want my nation to be known for. I do not want to face the next generation knowing that they had no voice standing up for them. The defenceless need a defender. Those who cannot speak for themselves need to be heard. This is why I continue to work and write for change to this abhorrent policy in Canada. Read the rest of this entry »
